Savings in non-renewable energy consumption estimated at 81%.

This is the data provided by the Xunta de Galicia: 81%. According to the Galician Executive, the “works of integral reform and improvement of the energetic efficiency in the institute Roman Wall of Lugo”, that count on an investment of 834.000 euros, are going to be translated in that percentage of saving with respect to the previous consumptions of non-renewable energy (the institute will use now biomass to provide itself of heating; the boiler before was of gas oil).

The IES Muralla Romana opened its doors in 1985, 34 years ago, and is located in the neighborhood of Piringalla (Lugo). Last year there were more than 900 students. The next course will offer ESO (Obligatory Secondary Education), Baccalaureate, Basic Vocational Training (Vocational Training) and training cycles of middle and higher grade in the professional families of, among others, Administration and management and Computer science and communications. The works of integral reform and improvement of the energetic efficiency that the Xunta has just undertaken in the Institute include “the improvement of the system of thermal isolation of the envelope of the building, so much in the totality of the facades as in the cover, as well as the relay of all the windows and the boxes of the blinds and the renovation of the rain water canalizations”.

The work also contemplates the modernization of the carpentry and total renovation of the existing luminaires by new equipment with LED technology (light emitting diode, light emitting diodes), light regulators and presence detectors in corridors and common areas. It is also planned to replace the current boiler by two that will use biomass as fuel and the construction of a silo for the supply of this much more ecological and efficient material. With all these works,” reports the Xunta, “a significant improvement in the energy efficiency conditions of the facilities will be achieved, with savings in the consumption of non-renewable energy estimated at 81% with respect to the current situation, in addition to a notable increase in thermal comfort.
